Witness Interviews

There was an accident or some other event. You need to know what others saw or heard, we can obtain that.

A witness interview is a systematic process where a missed or distorted fact could potentially jeopardize an entire investigation. An investigator must be proficient in obtaining what the witness is saying, but must also be able read the tone and manner in which they speak, their reaction to questions, and the how they present themselves in order to obtain a quality interview and documentation of the witness’ knowledge.

Interviewing witnesses, assessing their credibility, and documenting their statements are extremely important functions and should be obtained as soon as possible after an event in order to maintain credibility of the information obtained. Because an interview is neither an interrogation nor a deposition, the investigator must be able to quickly establish a rapport with a witness in order to obtain crucial information to the investigation. Using patience, empathy, and careful listening techniques, we are able to provide an assessment of the witness to consider as part of the overall investigation.

The most important part of a witness interview is the questions preparation. With your help we will develop questions which have been agreed upon so that they cover all areas necessary for the investigation. As interviews are not a perfect science, our findings only provide you with what that witness knows about the case and may provide if called to appear in court.

Our witness interview services include: locating a witness; obtaining a detailed and accurate report of their statement; establishing surveillance if necessary; and assist in preparation for trial.
